Tomorrow, we’re releasing a list of the top 10 highest-grossing Chevrolets from the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. You’ll have to wait until then to find out what they are, but today, we’re giving you a little sneak peek. This ‘67 Corvette not only stole our hearts with its classic beauty, but also made it in that top 10 list, selling for an astonishing $220,000 last weekend.
The sale price isn’t the only impressive attribute of this ‘67. The triple Tuxedo Black colorway and the red stinger hood stripe maintain the original colorway while looking flawless under the auction block lights. This particular colorway was only applied to 815 of the 22,940 Corvettes produced in 1967. That colorway, paired with the 427 make this particular color, model and horsepower combination arguably one of the most sought after Corvettes ever produced.
The side pipes not only look classically cool with mesh covers, but also allow the 427 V8 to exhale properly. A 4-speed manual transmission is mated to the big block in order to transfer all 435 of the factory-rated horsepower to the rear tires, which like the front, have the redline stripes along the sidewall. This styling cue on the tires is the perfect touch for an old muscle car, not to mention, is completely period-correct.
It took three years for a specialty Corvette repair shop to perform the restoration, but they managed to bring the ‘67 back to its former glory and get the car validated by experts including the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS).
It’s usually hard to put a price on many of the feature cars on The BLOCK. The hard work and dedication it takes to produce a vehicle of such quality is hard to put a value on, let alone the cost of parts and materials. But, with this particular ‘67, we can say with confidence that on Saturday, it was worth $220,000 to a Barrett-Jackson bidder.
