The response to the reintroduction of the legendary COPO Camaro has been overwhelming. So overwhelming, in fact, many of you out there have been asking how to go about building one of your own. Well, for those of you that dreamt of assembling your very own COPO Camaro, today is a great day, indeed! Why, you say? Today Chevrolet Performance has released the "COPO Camaro Build Book!"
According to the official release, over the course of 130 color pages, the all-new book "provides racers with a detailed overview of how to build their own Camaro Stock Eliminator race car." The book also shines a light on the COPO Build Center, near Detroit, and, through hundreds of photos hones in on the build process at this unique facility.
From the mods required of the "body in white" all the way down to the application of the COPO graphics package, the COPO Build Book offers readers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how the COPO Camaro is built.
“The COPO Build Book offers an unprecedented look at how the COPO Camaro is built, from start to finish,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Because not everyone who raised their hand for one of the 69 production models had the opportunity to obtain one, we designed this book to help others build their own Camaro Stock Eliminator race car. There is not a more complete reference to the COPO Camaro build process available.”
To read the official release in its entirety, keep your eyes peeled to GM Media. You can find the COPO Build Book at Chevrolet Performance dealers, carrying the part number 88958767 (part number should be valid in the system in a few weeks). Sounds like a pretty sweet holiday gift for the racing enthusiast in your life!
