For this #FlashbackFriday (#fbf), we’re only going back a week to Corvette Racing’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class win. The No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R came back from an unfortunate finish in Sebring, Florida to capture the win in Long Beach only three weeks later. However, Sebring wasn’t a total loss for Corvette Racing considering Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller piloted the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R to the third straight win at Sebring for Corvette Racing.
Oliver Gavin and co-driver Tommy Milner won together in 2012, and on Saturday came from sixth at the start to record a surprising yet rewarding victory in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This makes it the sixth class win for the team and Chevrolet at the historic Long Beach street circuit.
"After a hard-fought battle, it was rewarding to see Tommy Milner roll the No. 4 Corvette C7.R into Victory Lane today at Long Beach,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "Tommy and Oliver Gavin overcame adversity early in the race to be there at the end to capture the win.”
The next race for Corvette Racing is the Advance Auto Parts SportsCar Showdown May 4-6 from Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. If you would like to tune into that event, there’s a full TV schedule below, and also stay tuned to The BLOCK for a more comprehensive event schedule in the Weekend Overdrive article that will go live on May 5, 2017.
