Two of the most competitive classes that will be racing this weekend at the 60th Annual Chevrolet Performance NHRA US Nationals are Stock Eliminator and Super Stock. In all, 37 New-Gen COPO’s will be competing this weekend, as well as countless other Camaros, Corvettes, Chevelles, and many other Chevrolet favorites!
“COPO Camaros are headed back to the Mecca of Drag Racing, the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN,” explained Roger Allen, Chevrolet Performance Drag Racing Program Manager.
Roger continued, “This year, the COPO camp will be 37 strong with 5 entries in Super Stock and 32 entries in Stock. There will be 12 classes represented, from 8-second FS/A Supercharged COPO’s to 10 second C/SA COPO’s. There will be 5 COPOs back for the third straight Indy, and a bunch of first time Camaros looking to capture a Wally including 89-time National Event winner, Dan Fletcher.”
The 370 cars competing in Stock Eliminator and Super Stock this week at Lucas Oil Raceway park resemble their factory counterparts, and bring people back to the old days of drag racing with Chevy vs. Mopar vs Ford vs Chevy, each time another pair rolls up to the starting line.
The wheelstands in these classes are enough to get your juices flowing, and unlike any other classes you will see in NRHA Drag Racing. Be sure to stay in the grandstands when you see Stock Eliminator and Super Stock in the staging lanes this weekend at the Nationals, and check them out in the photos below.
